Day 35: Fri 26 Jun 26 - Emu Park

Fri 26 Jun 26 - Emu Park

16 to 20 Degrees, cloudy with a fresh south easterly wind all day.

The day started nicely with a pretty sunrise, then weather-wise, it went down hill from there. We were up early, and after my exercises and Noel's walk, we drove to Rockhampton at 0800, first stop the crematorium followed by Pet Barn to buy dog food. From there we continued to Camera House at Stocklands to see if they could recover photos from a faulty SD card belonging to my Uncle David. Leaving the SD Card with them to see what they could do, we continued into town for our morning coffee at the Two Professors (previously Sexy Coffee) - a favourite cafe when visiting Rocky. Sitting outside in the fresh breeze with Olli was....well very fresh, but the coffee was nice.

I got a call at 1100 to say that retrieving data from the SD Card would take longer than expected, so after a walk around Kershaw Gardens we returned to Emu Park. I will return to Rocky to pickup the SD card early next week. We arrived back at the van just in time to watch the Socceroos play their last Group D match, and it was that kind of afternoon, that sitting inside watching TV didn't make me feel guilty. After the match, I turned to packing up for our departure tomorrow morning, a long drive of 19km to Yeppoon for 4 nights (if there are cancellations we may stay longer - both Emu Park and Yeppoon stays were constrained by school holiday bookings). We've both enjoyed our stay at Emu Park very much - it's been very relaxing. The only downside for me is having to ride along narrow and busy roads. A late afternoon walk, followed by a refreshing ale and take away (Fish and chips without the fish for Noel, and Thai for me), followed by a quiet evening wrapped up a pleasant stay at Emu Park.

Red sky in the morning - Sailors take warning....

Afternoon stroll in a fresh blustering south easterly wind. Last day at Emu Park before we move on to the big smoke (Yeppoon) tomorrow.  After 8 days here, despite the name of the place, we didn't see any Emus.
